These easy-to-learn approaches lead to measurable improvement in the child’s ability to understand and process information, to solve problems and learn more effectively. To prevent burnout it is helpful to frame difficult times or situations in such a way that we learn and grow from our shortcomings and mistakes instead of being overwhelmed and discouraged by them. Having clear values and goals which guide our actions, helps. Adopting times for reflection is also important. And there is a growing body of research related to physician morale and burnout which points to resilience as an essential personal attribute for success in all the many ways success can be defined. Dr. Rothenberg will delineate specific skills, habits and attitudes that promote and sustain resilience, this key ingredient in reaching ones personal and professional goals and in preventing physician burnout.
